chema is an interdisciplinary artist working with found material.
i believe my work must be made in substraction of material and not in addition to the destruction of
the natural environment which we must co-exist with.
my work is a melding of geographies: my place of birth and my current home, both in material qualities and narratives. the work that results is subtle but human, a rejection of consumption and the frenzy of contemporary live, arguing for quiet reflection and introspection.
‘The silence on the floor of my house
Is all the questions and all the answers that have been known in the world
The sentimental furniture threatens the peace
The reflection of a sunset speaks loudly of days’ - Agnes Martin
